Countdown to the HIT

It’s official – beginning January 1, 2014, the HIT badly hurts small business unless we take action now.

Just three months remain before the health insurance tax, or HIT, takes effect, raising health insurance costs for millions of individuals, employees of small businesses and their families. A BNA article last week indicated that the IRS is currently working to finalize the HIT, which would increase insurance premiums for millions of hardworking Americans by approximately $8 billion next year. With the countdown to implementation now underway, we are doubling our efforts to raise awareness about the HIT and the deleterious effects it will have on communities across the country.

We are continuing our efforts, but need your help to spread the word about the HIT and pressure your elected officials to treat small businesses and their employees fairly by repealing this devastating tax.

Here’s what you can do:

Follow and retweet @StoptheHIT
We are tweeting about the impact the HIT will have on small businesses and their employees, but are adding a countdown. Every day from now until Jan. 1, we will update the countdown with a tweet at 11 a.m. Eastern Time that demonstrates the impact the HIT will have if it takes effect. Follow along, retweet the countdown and share your own stories using the hashtag #HITCountdown.
