Health care act roundtable today

The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and local small-business leaders will hold a health care roundtable this morning to discuss effects of the looming $87 billion Health Insurance Tax that is part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The groups said they will discuss “how Washington can take action to repeal the tax that will result in $1.7 billion in sales lost for Florida small businesses and 4,700 jobs lost in the state by 2021.”

Due to space requirements, an RSVP is requested. Details are as follows:

The meeting will be at 8 a.m. at the chamber offices, 1945 Fruitville Road.

ArtisTree wins contract at USF

ArtisTree Landscape Maintenance & Design has been awarded a one-year contract to maintain the grounds at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee.

ArtisTree, based in Venice, specializes in planned community and commercial maintenance and landscape design and installation.

Johnson now heads construction firm

Clayton Johnson is now president and principal/owner of Manasota Commercial Construction Co., in Bradenton, after the retirement of his former partner, Stan Stephens. The company has been in business for 25 years, offering designing, building, general contracting and construction management services.

Johnson recently received LEED Green Associate accreditation from the Green Building Certification Institute. He has been a licensed general contractor since 1982.
