Business Coalition Takes Aim at Healthcare Bill

(CNN) – A coalition of small business owners is speaking out against a provision in the health care reform law that it says will place an unfair burden on their businesses and employees.

The “Stop the HIT” Coalition’s campaign is aimed at repealing a provision they’ve dubbed the “Hidden Insurance Tax (HIT)” – a fee in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that will be levied on insurance companies based on companies’ market-share.

But the group says the costs of the tax will ultimately be passed down to consumers, costing small businesses and the self-employed billions in dollars over the next ten years.

The provision is set to go into effect in 2014.
