Coalition Calls on Congressional Leaders to Suspend HIT Immediately

Stop The HIT Coalition Calls on Congressional Leadership to Prioritize Two-Year HIT Suspension

Washington, D.C. – Ahead of a potential delay of several ACA taxes as part of forthcoming budget proposals, Stop The HIT Coalition urged Congressional leaders to protect 29 million small businesses and their employees from the harmful impact of the health insurance tax (HIT) by immediately suspending the tax for 2018 and 2019.

Stop The HIT Coalition represents the nation’s small business owners, their employees and the self-employed who are actively working to repeal the HIT. Coalition members were encouraged by proposals that would provide relief from the tax for 2019. Stop The HIT also called on Congress to continue working towards a common-sense approach that will suspend the tax as soon as possible in order to provide immediate relief to America’s small businesses in 2018.

As the letter states, “Suspending the tax for 2018 and 2019 is required to address the urgent affordability concerns facing millions of employers and employees. By delaying the tax for 2018, small business owners and employees would see immediate premium savings this year, and further suspension into 2019 would provide much-needed certainty ahead of premiums being filed in just a few months.”
