Milholland: HIT tax should be repealed

The last few years have seen small businesses across Wisconsin suffering from a series of ridiculous regulations imposed upon us by Obamacare. Now that Speaker Ryan is leading the charge to repeal and replace Obamacare, I hope the first part of Obamacare that gets put on the chopping block is the Health Insurance Tax.

Since “HIT” tax was enacted, it has taken millions out of the pockets of small businesses in Wisconsin by driving up health insurance costs. At a time when small businesses should be focused on repairing broken equipment, hiring workers and giving raises, they have been left paying more for health care costs due to this money grab from small businesses to fund other parts of Obamacare.

We are lucky to have Speaker Ryan in Congress and now more than ever, we need him to stand up for small businesses and families. I have heard that repealing Obamacare is complicated, but repealing the HIT tax should be a no-brainer. It’s the best thing Speaker Ryan can do right now to help small businesses.
