Rogers Small Business Owners Hold Roundtable Discussion on Efforts to Repeal the Health Insurance Tax

ROGERS, AR., March 29, 2013- Small business owners and advocates in Rogers met today to discuss efforts to repeal the costly Health Insurance Tax (HIT) that was included in the president’s health care plan, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

“In recent years, the economy has taken its toll on my small business and forced me to look for savings wherever I could find them. But I have always made sure my employees had health care coverage,” said Doug Bachman, owner of Village Insurance in Bentonville, AR. “This new tax resulting from the Affordable Care Act adds additional stress in this economy, leaving me uncertain of how I will cover my employees’ benefits.”

The HIT is a discriminatory tax born from the president’s health care plan, which would impose over $100 billion in new taxes on the small business community, their employees and the self-employed. The HIT could impact more than 240,000 Arkansas small businesses and over one million workers and families.
