Coalition Statement on Legislative Efforts to Repeal the Health Insurance Tax

For Immediate Release

The Stop The HIT Coalition, which represents small business owners, their employees and the self-employed, issued the following statement in response to legislative action in both the House and Senate to repeal the Health Insurance Tax:

“We thank Congress for working together in a bipartisan manner to advance legislation aimed at making health care more affordable for hardworking Americans. For the last several years, thousands of small business employers and employees have urged Congress to take action on the Health Insurance Tax (HIT) and safeguard consumers from exorbitant year-over-year increases to their coverage.”

“As a result of their tireless efforts and the ongoing leadership of small business champions, including Senators John Barrasso (R-WY), Cory Gardner (R-CO), Tim Scott (R-SC), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Doug Jones (D-AL), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Representatives Ami Bera (D-CA), Anthony Brindisi (D-NY), Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Jackie Walorski (R-IN) and Kenny Marchant (R-TX), more than 142 million Americans will be protected from the burdensome tax. We applaud their commitment to advancing bipartisan, meaningful reforms to support consumers and address one of the key drivers of rising health care costs.”
